A student in my creative classroom has earned the highest distinction in the 2026 Florida Student Art Assessment program, receiving the Best in Show award from the Florida Art Education Association for a drawing titled “Self-Examination”.
The recognition comes from a highly competitive pool of nearly 2,000 entries submitted by K–12 students across the state. According to the Florida Student Art Assessment, all works were evaluated through an anonymous adjudication process, ensuring that each piece was judged solely on its merit. Only artworks that received a perfect score of 4.0 from every judge advanced for consideration, placing this student’s work among the most exceptional in Florida.
The award highlights not only technical skill but also depth of thought and personal voice, qualities that were evident in Self-Examination. As a drawing, the piece reflects a strong level of observation and intention, suggesting a process rooted in patience, reflection, and careful decision-making.
In recognition of this achievement, both the student and the classroom will receive art supplies sponsored by BLICK Art Materials, supporting continued creative growth.
This accomplishment marks a significant moment, not just for the artist, but as a reminder of the impact that dedication, curiosity, and authentic expression can have in the development of young creatives.
